Linux Solutions

Dacom has been implementing Linux based solutions for over 10 years. Linux is reliable, stable, scalable and affordable. You have the advantages of a powerful server based operating system without the large price tag. We have implemented Linux based firewalls, file, print and email servers for many of our clients. Once Linux based solutions are implemented they require little maintenance.
Firewalls
Linux based firewalls offer excellent security. With Linux you get an advanced, flexible stateful packet filter that can screen every packet in and out of your network and decide whether to pass, reject, drop or log it. It can do so by looking at the source, destination or even the state of the packet. Our firewall is not limited to just one subnet either.It can be setup to handle multiple subnets and allow different levels of access per subnet.
File and print server

Linux makes an excellent file and print server for your Windows network. Linux has a package available for it called Samba that allows your Linux server to act transparently as thoughit is a Windows NT/2000/2003 server. It can be set up as a Domain Controller and share files and printers across your network. The performance of Samba is terrific, equal to or better than Windows NT/2000/2003. There is no license fee for the server software or client access licenses. On a small one-server network with 20 workstations, this translates to savings of thousands of dollars in up front licensing fees as well as added savings on license maintenance/upgrade fees. Implementation and support cost of Linux based solutions are similar to Windows based solutions.
Email Server

Linux is an exceptional platform for email solutions. We offer a variety of email solutions on Linux. We offer POP3/IMAP and SMTP, LotusDomino on Linux and our Dacom Email Gateway.

POP3/IMAP and SMTP is a solution where your mail resides on the Linux server.

LotusDomino on Linux allows you to use the powerful groupware application from IBM/Lotus to manage your email.

The Dacom Email Gateway is a product that sits in between your Lotus Domino or Microsoft Exchange server and the Internet. The email gateway product is extremely powerful and can be configured to check each message for viruses, and to check if the message is considered spam. This solution protects your Domino/Exchange server by keeping a layer of protection between it, and the Internet.
